Le Galpon, a small alternative theater at the base of Bois de la Bâtie, proudly identifies as a “workspace for the performing arts.” It functions as a vibrant center for research and experimentation in dance and theater creation, providing artist residencies and embracing distinctive artistic ventures. The theater presents approximately 9 shows annually for both adult and children audiences.
“Meanders” is a performance by Justine Ruchat that offers a poetic and dreamlike journey through the world, depicted in seven scenes. Utilizing images, words, and an immersive set design, the piece invites a re-enchantment of our perception of life. Audiences, seen as partners in this endeavor, are led on a quest for wonder and reconnection with the essential, blending subtlety and emotion. Inspired by Italo Calvino, the production weaves together visual and sound elements to revive our primal senses, turning each immersion into an act of resistance against modern alienation.
Camille Lacroix, a visual artist and performer, presents a performance that delves into the concept of beauty through the lenses of philosophy, art, psychology, and poetry. This intricate and respectful exploration, carefully avoiding a crass exposition of beauty’s mysteries, is split into two segments: a lecture and a workshop. Participants are guided through enigmatic knowledge, possibly glimpsing the essence of beauty and uncovering the conditions of its emergence.

“To Hell with War!” is a satirical parody of “Ubu Roi” by the Studio d’Action Théâtrale, under the direction of Gabriel Alvarez. Drawing inspiration from Jarry, the performance condemns war as a grotesque and tragic charade. Actors portray absurd characters that lay bare the senselessness and brutality of conflict, staging a macabre dance against destructive capitalism.
