The Minoteries municipal library is located just off rue de Carouge. Throughout the year, it offers a variety of events, including lectures, readings, author meet-and-greets, workshops, and storytelling sessions. The librarians also organize discovery sessions with selected video games, providing visitors with a mix of cultural and recreational activities.
Participants construct a wooden, solar-powered flashlight while gaining practical skills in electronics and maker techniques. The workshop teaches soldering, assembly of a simple electrical circuit, and integration of a photovoltaic cell with LEDs to produce efficient lighting. Attendees also learn finishing and customization using laser engraving to personalize their lamp. The session examines basic principles of solar energy and low-power design, fostering hands-on understanding of sustainable, small-scale lighting solutions.
