Situated at the base of the Old Town, The Bibliothèque de la Cité is one of the city’s municipal libraries, featuring a substantial collection. Notably, it boasts a significant children’s section. Join six comic book authors from Africa and Switzerland at the Bibliothèque de la Cité. This gathering will explore how gender influences a career in comic book illustration, discussing the balance between earning a living and creating art, combating precarity, achieving economic independence, and organizing time. The event is part of the BRAZZA exhibition, stemming from a collaborative residency between African and Swiss authors in Brazzaville. Engage in discussions about effective strategies for navigating these challenges.

The Bibliothèque de la Cité welcomes final-year students from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève for a musical and playful event. Tomorrow’s artists will present their world through mini-conferences and musical performances, creating an intimate setting conducive to interaction with the audience.

How do you feel when confronted with visuals or posters predicting a catastrophic future? Between fascination with post-apocalyptic imagery, guilt induced by calls for individual action, and anxiety generated by environmental statistics, what are our capacities to act collectively or individually? And what kind of images should we create?

We’ll discuss these questions with graphic designers, members of activist collectives, an art philosopher, and explorers of the media landscape.

Zeynep Perinçek and Alice Krichel will be leading these drawing workshops for children, where they will team up to create imaginary creatures. Drawing inspiration from their creative process, each child will begin a drawing that their partner will then complete.
