Situated at the base of the Old Town, The Bibliothèque de la Cité is one of the city’s municipal libraries, featuring a substantial collection. Notably, it boasts a significant children’s section. The library is actively engaged in the community, regularly organizing a diverse range of events such as talks, exhibitions, performances, film screenings, and workshops.

As part of the Nuit du Conte event, storytellers Deirdre Foster and Casilda Regueiro invite you on an immersive journey into forests threatened by human greed and deforestation. Through captivating narratives, relive a time when trees blanketed the Earth, allowing a squirrel to cross Europe without ever touching the ground. Join us as we leap from tree to tree, from story to story, rekindling the tales of deep forests. This performance complements the exhibition “SAUVAGES: Behind the Scenes of Claude Barras’s Film,”.

Join Philippe Gindre for a workshop at the Bibliothèque de la Cité focused on traditional blues and fingerpicking guitar techniques. Participants will explore various blues styles such as Delta blues, East Coast blues, and Texas blues while engaging with the works of legendary figures like Big Bill Broonzy, Mississippi John Hurt, and Reverend Gary Davis.

Join Coralie Ehinger, Switzerland’s ambassador of the theremin, at the Bibliothèque de la Cité for an engaging and educational presentation. This intriguing instrument, played without physical contact, will be explored as Ehinger unravels its mysteries and history in an entertaining session.

CHIFUMI is a poetic show designed for very young children, combining gentle visuals, music, and a wordless narrative. Hands, leaves, stones, and scissors dance and reflect on a large mirror, as a character embarks on a fantastical journey, encountering bizarre animals and towering beings. Through trials and discoveries, the character conquers fears and finds their path. Directed by Delphine Lanza, featuring Inbal Yomtovian, with music by Ilya Levin.

What if Fauré’s Requiem could inspire brand new stories? Drawing from musical excerpts, the audience shares their impressions, which are then transformed into improvisational narratives by La Fusée Company. This offers a unique way to reconnect with classical music through collective emotion and imagination.

A puppet show by Cie les Croquettes accompanies the Sauvages exhibition at the Bibliothèque de la Cité. The story follows Fix, a mischievous sprite on an adventurous journey through the forest, where he encounters the witch Tralabatsch. It delves into themes of nature exploration, initiatory challenges, and the classic battle between good and evil, weaving in elements of sprite activities, seasonal cycles, and the life of animals and plants.
