Situated at the base of the Old Town, The Bibliothèque de la Cité is one of the city’s municipal libraries, featuring a substantial collection. Notably, it boasts a significant children’s section. The library is actively engaged in the community, regularly organizing a diverse range of events such as talks, exhibitions, performances, film screenings, and workshops.
The exhibition “Sauvages” at the Cité Library invites visitors to delve into the behind-the-scenes of Claude Barras’s film. It is divided into three sections that cover the ecological and cultural aspects of Borneo, reveal the creative and production processes of the film, and immerse the audience in the filming atmosphere through never-before-seen photos and testimonials. Original documents, drawings, travel journals, sets, and figurines enhance this immersive experience.
Join Philippe Gindre for a workshop at the Bibliothèque de la Cité focused on traditional blues and fingerpicking guitar techniques. Participants will explore various blues styles such as Delta blues, East Coast blues, and Texas blues while engaging with the works of legendary figures like Big Bill Broonzy, Mississippi John Hurt, and Reverend Gary Davis.

Immerse yourself in the world of illustrated storytelling during the Les Créatives festival at the Cité Library with “De Bois et d’Os.” This lecture brings together the poetry of a screenwriter and live drawing by an illustrator to animate the story of the Penan nomads of Borneo. Through hunting scenes and their resistance against logging companies, the narrative pays tribute to their dedication to Indigenous issues. Following the performance, a discussion will delve into the making of this graphic novel, highlighting respect for Penan culture. The event is presented in partnership with the municipal libraries of Geneva.
