Located in the heart of the city, the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices (BFM) is a former hydroelectric power station on the Rhône that has been transformed into a versatile venue. It hosts a wide range of cultural events, including theatrical performances, dance shows, and concerts. Its entirely wooden interior enhances acoustic qualities, allowing it to accommodate up to 1,000 spectators.
Leonardo García Alarcón and his Cappella Mediterranea, in collaboration with the GTG Ballet, present the opera-dance Castor & Pollux by Jean-Philippe Rameau. Rarely performed in its 1737 version, the work delves into themes of brotherly love and sacrifice amidst a war between two peoples. The show features renowned baroque artists, including performances by Reinoud van Mechelen and Andreas Wolf. Dance is woven into the core of the dramaturgy, highlighting the emotional and musical depth of Rameau’s composition.

An intimate backstage tour organised by the Grand Théâtre de Genève, offering visitors a rare glimpse of what happens behind the curtain after selected performances. A member of the theatre’s technical team answers questions and reveals the hidden mechanics of the stage — from set construction and rigging to lighting design and stage machinery. This twenty-minute visit highlights the collaborative work of technicians and stagehands, giving a tangible sense of how productions come to life onstage.

This concert will showcase the “Pathétique,” “The Tempest,” and “Appassionata” sonatas, along with some of the composer’s bagatelles, highlighting Beethoven’s groundbreaking genius and lasting impact on classical music. A unique event for piano and Beethoven enthusiasts.
Elsa Dreisig’s radiant soprano inhabits a diverse recital programme led by pianist Joseph Middleton. From the incisive wit of Poulenc and Satie to the intimate lyricism of Hahn and Spanish and Scandinavian mélodies, the evening traces portraits of love and womanhood. At its heart Dreisig performs Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben in full, offering a seamless blend of dramatic intensity, refined musicality and luminous tone that transforms familiar songs into a vivid, theatrical journey.
Madame Butterfly, an opera by Giacomo Puccini with a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, returns to the Grand Théâtre de Genève in a fresh production. The opera tells the heartrending story of Cio-Cio-San, a geisha who sacrifices everything for her love for an American sailor. Directed by Barbora Horáková and featuring video art by Diana Markosian, this production weaves an intergenerational and intercontinental narrative, exploring themes of tradition and personal expectations. With Corinne Winters as the lead and Stephen Costello as Pinkerton, attendees can expect a remarkable performance, all under the musical direction of Antonino Fogliani.
