Groove Night

Groove Night brings together students and teachers from across the Conservatoire populaire for a shared celebration of rhythm, movement, and collective energy. The programme traces the history of contemporary music from the 1950s to today, blending iconic songs with original student creations, including electronic music. Some pieces are performed entirely by the students, while others bring everyone together on stage. The result is a festive, convivial atmosphere built for standing, listening, and dancing.

Co-produced with Le Collectif Nocturne.

Directed by Marie-José Malis, Retour au pays revisits Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s letters through a spare, lucid staging. Performers Alexandra Tiedemann and Juan Crespillo inhabit the returning merchant’s disorientation, while Aurélia Ansermet provides live music and sound. Bernard Héritier’s scenography and Jessy Ducatillon’s lighting shape moments of visual surprise, most poignantly a Van Gogh encounter that restores belief in the world. The piece refuses facile answers, offering theatrical lucidity and an austere emotional clarity.

Adapted freely from Maryse Condé and Emily Brontë, this theatrical adaptation follows Razyé and Cathy across three generations in a post-emancipation Guadeloupe. Directed by Anne Monfort, the production probes themes of racism, passion, pride, social violence, vengeance and fatalism through a visceral, rhythmic staging. FURTHER AFIELD

Mobula is an ode to the movement of water, a dance piece that reflects humanity’s relationship with the ocean. Directed by Jean‑Camille Goimard and performed by Pierre Theoleyre, Denis Terrasse and Anna Martin‑François, the choreography channels aquatic energy: floating beneath the surface, being tossed by waves, confronting the storm. Images are projected across a sail-like structure while Anne Martin appears as a dancer in the film, and narratives from people who live with the sea punctuate the work.

30 October – 14 November

Four performers embody testimonies from different generations in Sept, situated at the crossroads of dance and film. Between intimate confidences and tender tableaux, the piece examines how age shapes us and stages a delicate exploration of what growing older means, revealing a shared humanity. The staging shifts between projected images and live bodies, weaving visual and physical layers to create an experience that is both poetic and unsettling.

31 October – 15 November

At the crossroads of theatre, mixed reality and technological installation, this immersive performance invites audiences to test the machine built by a scientist to tackle existential problems. Wearing mixed-reality headsets, spectators collectively explore the chaotic inner world of a person trapped by indecision. The experience moves between human vulnerability and artificial intelligence, until the machine itself begins to falter in the face of what it cannot fully understand.
