Anti-Racism Week

Week of events in Geneva bringing people together to confront racism through talks, roundtables, screenings, theatre, workshops, marches and guided visits. Activities are designed for all community members and include performances, film screenings, literary encounters, a human library, youth workshops and participatory theatre. The programme encourages listening, dialogue and collective reflection, offering multiple ways for neighbours and organisations to connect, learn and act together for a more inclusive city.

Reza Sahibdad, author born in 1980 in Mashhad and a member of the Hazara community, and illustrator Yann Damezin bring the graphic novel to life through testimony and images.

This conversation examines Sahibdad’s migratory journey from Iran/Afghanistan as a Hazara, addressing exclusion, racial prejudice, camp settlements around Stalingrad and his asylum claim. Through illustrated testimony, it explores identity, belonging and the role of graphic narrative in documenting migration and exposing systemic racism.

The Green Film Festival raises awareness about the impacts of climate change and promotes sustainable lifestyles by showcasing films that offer solutions. Screenings are often followed by discussions with invited experts who address questions and inspire action for the environment.

Swiss Woolness Wellness and the Association pour la sauvegarde du Léman present a sensory workshop that explores the properties of natural wool and its role in reducing everyday plastic use. Participants are guided to craft 100% locally sourced Geneva wool relaxation balls—simple, durable, soothing objects—while reflecting on slow living, local craftsmanship, and nature-based well-being. The session reveals practical insights into sustainable material choices and encourages hands-on engagement with tactile techniques that reconnect makers to natural resources.

Thursday 19 March, 19:00

Journalist Claire Eggermont introduces a documentary by Luc Marescot, focusing on Benki Piyako, the spiritual leader of the Asháninka, and his efforts to reforest the Amazon threatened by various destructive projects. Following the screening, Claire will discuss her personal experiences and connection with the forest, as well as her book “Guardians of the Forest – The Call of Indigenous Peoples.” This event, in partnership with the Green Film Festival, explores the relationship between ecology and awareness.

18 – 22 March

Join a wide literary gathering bringing together nearly 800 authors for meetings, signings and themed exhibitions. Guests of honour include Laure Adler, Patrick Chappatte, Hélène Dorion and Douglas Kennedy. The programme offers photo and drawing displays, storytelling and creative workshops, mystery trails, dictations, dedicated youth areas and the presentation of six literary and artistic prizes. Designed for readers of all ages, the fair fosters exchange, discovery and community around books and ideas.
