Since its founding, La Fanfare du Loup has served as a musical laboratory where diverse traditions and practices meet. For this project the ensemble invites Finnish saxophonist and composer Esa Pietilä, whose exploratory voice reframes genre boundaries. The large ensemble, including Christophe Berthet (sax), Théo Duboule (guitar), Aïda Diop (percussion), Marie Mercier (clarinets) and others, trades tight horn figures, shimmering textures and improvisatory flights, creating dense, evolving soundscapes that blend composition and collective spontaneity.

Directed by Cyril Teste, this restless adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Platonov concentrates the action into a single, simmering night. Teste blends cinema and theatre, letting the camera trace fragments of conversations, music and the shifting paths of desire and solitude. Around the melancholy misanthrope Micha, an ensemble confronts money, regret and incomprehension as frustrations and longings are amplified by summer heat and drink. The staging is at once filmic and theatrical, precise and emotionally porous.

Actor Samuel Labarthe turns Nicolas Bouvier’s fever-drenched memoir The Scorpion-Fish into a hypnotic, miniaturist tour de force: marooned in 1950s Ceylon after a headlong road trip from Geneva through the Balkans and Afghanistan, the once-ebullient traveller spirals into tropical delirium, trading human company for buzzing insects, mirage-bright visions and mordant humour that flits between the sublime and the grotesque. Under Catherine Schaub’s finely gauged direction, Labarthe channels both the lush lyricism and the slow-burn torment of this “motionless voyage,” distilling Bouvier’s languid prose into a tactile, rejuvenating elixir that lets the audience feel every bead of sweat, jolt of wonder and sting of isolation.
