An expert-led guided visit examining the intersections between art history and the contemporary art market. The session considers how historical narratives shape valuation, provenance, and collecting practices across painting, sculpture, and installation. Participants will explore curatorial strategies, market mechanisms, and the material and conceptual languages that inform reception and trade. Emphasis is placed on critical readings of works, the role of provenance, and ethical considerations in collecting and exhibiting.

Multiple guided visits are offered throughout the fair, conducted in both English and French.

Directed by Cyril Teste, this restless adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Platonov concentrates the action into a single, simmering night. Teste blends cinema and theatre, letting the camera trace fragments of conversations, music and the shifting paths of desire and solitude. Around the melancholy misanthrope Micha, an ensemble confronts money, regret and incomprehension as frustrations and longings are amplified by summer heat and drink. The staging is at once filmic and theatrical, precise and emotionally porous.

Composed and sung by Emmanuelle Bonnet, this new quartet programme presents material from the album Prérie(s), released on her independent label Mousse Records after a 2024 debut on Unit Records. Joined by Yvonne Rogers (piano), Tabea Kind (double bass) and Lucas Zibulski (drums), the four musicians pursue timbral and textural discoveries, shaping a collective sound marked by playful nonchalance and subtle humour. The performance unfolds intimate, shifting atmospheres that deconstruct and reweave harmonies into delicate, expressive narratives.

As part of Art Genève/Art Talks, Mai-Thu Perret (artist), Théo Casciani (writer), and Clément Dirié (Editorial Director, JRP|Editions) join Christian Herren (curator, editor of the E.A.T. Index) for a conversation marking the release of three new publications: the E.A.T. Index (JRP|Editions), mapping fifteen years of conversations across art, architecture, and science; Mai-Thu Perret’s monograph Grammar & Glamour (JRP|Editions); and Théo Casciani’s novel Insula (P.O.L). The discussion delves into contemporary approaches to bookmaking, exploring archival materials, imagery, narrative, and editorial structures.

Pleasing the Spirits invites you on a journey through the Barbier-Mueller Collection, showcasing artworks from around the globe. Curated by Séverine Fromaigeat and Paul Maheke, the exhibition offers an open-ended exploration of diverse objects, awakening spirits and uncovering territories to discover.

28 January – 15 March

Swiss artist Grégory Sugnaux presents a body of paintings that stage ambiguous, often hybrid figures—part human, part animal, serial androids and distorted, sometimes monstrous bodies. Combining grotesque allusion with ironic self-reflection, he mixes genres and pictorial techniques to render surfaces alternately smooth and vibrating, fracturing legibility.
A composed soundtrack threads through the installation, amplifying the exhibition’s uneasy pulsation. The works negotiate a fragile balance between fascination and self-critique, revealing vulnerability beneath playful, unsettling imagery.
