The Cathedral of Geneva features three cantatas from J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, performed by the Ensemble Vocal Pierre de Lune and the Ensemble Instrumental Romand under Emmanuel Junod’s direction. Cantatas No. I, III, and VI depict the birth of Jesus, the adoration of the shepherds, and the visit of the Magi. Soloists Clémence Tilquin, Cristina Segura, Valério Contaldo, and Alexandre Beuchat will contribute to this concert, organized by the Fondation des Concerts de la Cathédrale.

A theatrical adaptation of Plato’s “The Republic,” directed by José Lillo, delves into the timeless themes of governance and justice. The play enjoyed a triumphant first run in 2022, filling the Pitoëff Theatre to capacity and performing to sold-out audiences, fueled by strong word-of-mouth. The cast includes Jean-Alexandre Blanchet, Felipe Castro, and other talents. Supported by the City of Geneva, this production invites audiences to reflect anew on Plato’s insights into the perils of power concentration and unchecked profit.

This haunted setting offers a delicate yet unsettling experience centered on mourning and memory, with lip-sync performances and discussions about departed friends, among other elements. Blurring the lines between fiction and reality, kawaii and the macabre, this performance provides an ironic and sensitive meditation on loss and emotional connections. The event is part of the Side Quest for the Real exhibition program.
