Villa Bernasconi is transformed into a poetic labyrinth with the project “Chambres d’échos.” First presented at the Avignon Festival 2022, this collective showcases contemporary Arabic poetry. Performers Soukaina Habiballah, Carol Sansour, Hend Jouda, and Rasha Omran, hailing from Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Gaza, give voice to personal and poignant themes. The event is enriched by musician Neda Joukar, a târ specialist, who provides musical interludes.

Khalid Abdalla, an actor and activist, takes us on a dynamic solo journey inspired by the 2011 Egyptian revolution and the counter-revolution that followed. Through a global mapping of events, he weaves together personal and political narratives, exploring themes such as colonialism, decolonization, friendship, loss, protests, uprisings, and the recent violence in Gaza.

Friday 12 September, 20:00

La Bâtie invites the Swedish band Peter Bjorn and John to bring their iconic album, Writer’s Block, back to life, celebrated for the hit Young Folks. This indie pop trio is known for their catchy melodies and distinctive gritty instrumentation. Opening for them is the duo Wolfberg, featuring Perrine Berger and Nicolas Wolf, who will perform their debut self-produced EP, Luftpost. Their innovative pop music, blending various sounds and instruments, challenges the social media capitalism and champions authenticity and unity.

Ages 16 and up, or accompanied by adult.

11 – 13 September

Spanish choreographer Tamara Alegre brings together dancers and Jamaican DJs at the Pavillon for an unrestrained and festive celebration of dancehall. Originating from the vibrant neighborhoods of Kingston, this cultural and political movement will be represented by Dynamic Legends, Happy Feet, Miss Rose, Shanky Equanoxx, and DJ Pappi. Through their music and dance, they will express joy, anger, and pride, turning the stage into a lively and unifying dance floor.

The project “Chambres d’échos” transforms Geneva into a poetic labyrinth that showcases contemporary Arabic poetry. Four performers from Morocco, Palestine, Syria, and Gaza—Soukaina Habiballah, Carol Sansour, Hend Jouda, and Rasha Omran—express their voices across personal and universal themes. Alongside poetic readings, the audience can enjoy a musical interlude with târ player Neda Joukar, who blends Persian traditions with ethnomusicology, adding an enriching musical layer to the event.
