VideoDatabase – 4th Carte blanche: Marie Jeanson & Denis Schuler

Marie Jeanson and Denis Schuler present a curated selection investigating magnetic tape as material and metaphor. The programme brings together experimental video and film— including Super8 restoration, archival fragments and audio-visual works— that foreground tape’s noise, distortion and tactile imperfections. Artists activate memory, absence and political trace, revealing marginalised feminist struggles and collective forms of resistance. Through sound-image interplay, restoration practices and material attunement, the selection evokes tenderness and loss while proposing noisy modes of remembrance and imagination.

10 February – 3 April

Presented by a curatorial team in collaboration with particle physicists, the exhibition examines neutrinos — elusive subatomic particles — through immersive installations, scale models, interactive displays and audiovisual works. It juxtaposes cutting‑edge detector technology with poetic visual language to probe invisibility, scale and the limits of observation. Through data visualizations, sensory simulations and sculptural forms, the show reveals how extreme instrumentation and experimental practice reshape our sense of the cosmos and invite reflection on what remains unseen.

18 February – 8 May

Zoe A. Keller and Batia Suter reactivate the Eranos Archive in a collaborative project that blends critical essay and photographic installation. Keller’s research interrogates archetypal image systems and proposes the concept of the “anarchetype” to unsettle fixed classifications, while Suter juxtaposes historical Eranos images with contemporary-period photographs. Together they examine ideological contradictions and heterogeneous visual encounters of the interwar archive, opening a fictional conceptual field that foregrounds the archive’s historical vulnerability and the politics of visual classification.

The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent presents the first European solo exhibition of Guatemalan Maya Kaqchikel artist Angélica Serech (*1982). Pach’un Q’ijul (Temps entrelacés – Deep Time) intertwines ancestral weaving gestures with personal and collective memory, drawing on Serech’s history shaped by Guatemala’s civil war. Using self-built looms and natural materials like corn husks and branches, her works explore resilience, repair, and the deep ties between textile traditions and humanitarian action.

12 – 25 March

Eight artists — Fernando de la Rocque, Jean Marie Fahy, Dara Maillard, Lyz Parayzo, Wes Roque, Almeida da Silva, Vivianne Van Singer and Martin Widmer — examine paper as a deliberate field of possibility. Treating sheets as material and gesture, they deploy drawing, cutting, layering and mark‑making to activate intimacy, fragility and resilience. The works reclaim paper as presence rather than support, exploring immediacy, vulnerability and the poetic potential of minimal means.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Thursday 12 March, 18:00.

Gianni Motti is a Swiss conceptual artist known for blurring the boundaries between art, politics and everyday life. Often working through interventions, performances and symbolic gestures, he inserts himself into real-world situations—from institutions to public events—to question power, authorship and the role of the artist. His provocative and often humorous works invite audiences to reconsider what art can be and where it can happen.
