Guided Tour: Tender Buttons

The Tender Buttons exhibition offers a multidisciplinary exploration centered on buttons, delving into their identity and historical significance. Featuring over three hundred ceramic and glass buttons, the exhibition interacts with the museum’s works to highlight their role in both formal experimentation and socio-cultural narratives. The exhibition’s architecture evokes the commercial arcades of the 19th century, a pivotal era for button industrialization. Curated by Claire FitzGerald, the exhibition is supported by the Swiss Fashion Museum and showcases never-before-seen pieces from several prestigious collections.

Guided tour, in the presence of the exhibition curator.  In French.

Luis Marques, artist and architect, examines his intimate relationship with water through abstract landscapes and text-infused works. Using repeated line, handwritten fragments and layered marks, he constructs an introspective journey that invites contemplative immersion.
The pieces evoke both Lake Geneva and the Atlantic glimpsed from his native Portugal, drawing on the depth of blue and the moving surface of water. By integrating adolescent texts, Marques frames a gentle choreography where line becomes migration and memory is rendered as drawing.

9 December – 23 August

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum presents the Prix Art Humanité, featuring works by five HEAD – Genève alumni exploring themes of sharing, engagement, and humanity. The exhibition also includes the first International Prize, by Lebanese artist Mohamad Khamis. Visitors can vote for their favourite project, with the Public Prize awarded during the ceremony.

VideoDatabase – Cartes blanches 2026 gathers four curatorial carte blanche projects that reframe a public video collection through screenings and artist-led playlists.
Conservator-restorer Eléonore Bernard, dancer-choreographer Lucy Nightingale, programmer Christophe Piette, and curators Marie Jeanson and Denis Schuler each present selections of video and moving-image works ranging from early video art to experimental contemporary pieces.
The series explores archival practices, performative temporality, and the shifting histories of moving-image mediums, prompting reflection on preservation, context and modes of display.

Gathering short works by Le Nemesiache, Raffaela Naldi Rossano, Jumana Emil Abboud and Katia Kameli, the Anti-Nymphs programme stages feminist rereadings of Greco‑Roman myths across the Mediterranean. The films foreground the aquatic—shorelines, currents and submerged histories—using textured, topographical explorations and lyrical montage to update mythological figures with political resonance. Sparse narration, tactile frames and layered soundscapes trace alternative geographies and collective memory, inviting a contemplative encounter with nature, gendered myth and the sea’s shifting allegories.

23 January – 30 April

London-based artist Konstantina Krikzoni presents a body of paintings born from an intense solitary studio practice. Her work blurs painting and sculpture: textured, tactile canvases where brushwork and sculptural modelling interweave. Silent yet confrontational female figures occupy compositions in grey and yellow, evoking funerary motifs and the logic of memory and grief. ARMATURA functions as metaphor and method — an internal armature of endurance that shapes emotion into form through material exploration and sustained process.

9 October 2025 – 30 August 2026

The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent presents the first European solo exhibition of Guatemalan Maya Kaqchikel artist Angélica Serech (*1982). Pach’un Q’ijul (Temps entrelacés – Deep Time) intertwines ancestral weaving gestures with personal and collective memory, drawing on Serech’s history shaped by Guatemala’s civil war. Using self-built looms and natural materials like corn husks and branches, her works explore resilience, repair, and the deep ties between textile traditions and humanitarian action.
