Pelléas & Mélisande by Claude Debussy

Claude Debussy’s opera “Pelléas & Mélisande,” based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s libretto, makes its return to Geneva following its initial streamed staging in 2021. This production, a collaboration with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, showcases the creative talents of directors and choreographers Damien Jalet and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, with visual artist Marina Abramović contributing her artistic touch. Juraj Valčuha conducts the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, while the costumes are crafted by Iris van Herpen. Sung in French with subtitles, the opera delves into a symbolist drama focusing on hidden emotions and unseen energies, heightened by performances from the dancers of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève.
