This presentation is part of the 2025 Japanese Culture Autumn, celebrating both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture in the Lake Geneva region.

Olivier Varenne showcases the first solo exhibition of Benoît Mazzer, a French artist whose work blends abstraction with figuration. Mazzer’s paintings, influenced by nature, memory, and the subconscious, unveil dreamlike inner worlds rooted in Romanticism, German Neo-Expressionism, and Vedantic philosophy. His pieces range from monumental landscapes to dreamlike maps and composite portraits, inviting viewers into uncharted inner realms.

Quartier Libre SIG showcases “BORN IN … PPM” by Mary-Lou Mauricio, an exhibition of photographic portraits that highlight the CO₂ levels from the birth year of each subject. Featuring both well-known and unknown individuals, this artistic project raises awareness about climate change and the urgent need to move away from fossil fuels.

Every month, the Botanical Garden showcases a treasure from its collections through an audio commentary, accessible both at the library and on social media. These gems, which include engravings, rare books, objects, or archival letters, are enriched with insights from a librarian or archivist.

Convergent Lines at Galerie L’Appartement showcases a dynamic blend of expressive canvases by Mariana Oushiro alongside pieces by Jojo Corväiá, Maarten Vrolijk, and Marius Ritiu. This exhibition delves into the crossroads of art, sculpture, and design, emphasizing the role of materials, processes, and architectural influences. Marius Ritiu’s monumental sculptures, Jojo Corväiá’s meditative ceramics, and Maarten Vrolijk’s delicate lighting fixtures and vases engage in a dialogue with Mariana Oushiro’s gestural and geometric paintings. Together, these works create a choreography of contrasts, balancing heaviness and lightness, permanence and movement, structure and spontaneity.
