The quartet Ohne Stempel, featuring Tanja Müller on flute, Philippe Koller on violin and vocals, Joseph Lapchine on alto saxophone, and Anne Briset on double bass, delivers a genre-defying jazz experience. Blending Latin, Eastern, classical, and improvised music, their project Ombres que nous sommes presents a rich and poetic soundscape where wind and strings engage in both meditative and fiery dialogues.
Actor Samuel Labarthe turns Nicolas Bouvier’s fever-drenched memoir The Scorpion-Fish into a hypnotic, miniaturist tour de force: marooned in 1950s Ceylon after a headlong road trip from Geneva through the Balkans and Afghanistan, the once-ebullient traveller spirals into tropical delirium, trading human company for buzzing insects, mirage-bright visions and mordant humour that flits between the sublime and the grotesque. Under Catherine Schaub’s finely gauged direction, Labarthe channels both the lush lyricism and the slow-burn torment of this “motionless voyage,” distilling Bouvier’s languid prose into a tactile, rejuvenating elixir that lets the audience feel every bead of sweat, jolt of wonder and sting of isolation.

“Un souvenir de Henry Dunant” written by Serge Bimpage and performed by Vincent Aubert, delves into the final days of Henry Dunant in Heiden, near Lake Constance. In his isolation and paranoia, Dunant is visited by editor-in-chief Georg Baumberger, whose published interview highlights Dunant’s insightful perspectives on humanity, warfare, and money. Aubert’s compelling performance is enhanced by Laure-Lyne Richard’s accordion music, which beautifully complements the play’s atmosphere.
