For its sixth edition, Ensemble Vortex and L’Abri-Genève invite you to explore the work of four emerging sound artists. Supported by Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council, and in partnership with Geneva’s Archipel Festival, these artists have collaborated for a year with Vortex members to develop diverse works, ranging from musical compositions to sound installations.
Ana Durán offers “bzz,” which utilizes string instruments and motors to delve into the relationship between humans and machines. Jorge Villoslada presents “CAPTCHA #2,” a piece that blends strings, bass clarinet, video, and electronics, challenging the distinction between human and machine. Aya Metwalli, with “Beauty in the Beast,” combines a string trio and voice to create a powerful and emotional evocation. Lastly, Zeynep Toraman presents “Long Lurking in the Clouds,” integrating a string trio, bass clarinet, and electronics.
