Music Boxes Come to Life

MAH
Free, Booking Required

Ongoing demonstrations with Gabrielle Mino-Matot, a conservator-restorer.

The exhibition “Musique mécanique” offers visitors the chance to experience the wonder of the melodies created by music boxes. Sounds, silences, percussion and mechanical noises evoke emotions and memories, evoking the prestige enjoyed by mechanical music in 19th-century salons. It will also highlight the birth of the music box in Geneva, in line with late 18th-century watchmaking production from small format to large volume, which is now enjoying an era of revival.
