Marionette Excavations

Reserved for previous participants of the Grand Chantier, this workshop deepens marionette staging and performance practice. Facilitated by Chine Curchod and Joël Hefti. Using puppets supplied by the TMG and excerpts from classical and contemporary texts, participants will investigate spatial composition, scenographic devices and dramaturgy, and refine ensemble manipulation and character work. The atelier emphasizes practical exercises, collective exploration and staged fragments to advance technical control and theatrical storytelling.

Shriver’s sharp intelligence and journalistic perspective illuminate the book’s moral provocations.

The lecture will be preceded by an apéritif at 18:30, offering a convivial start to the evening.

19 – 24 January

Director and scenographer Fabrizio Montecchi, former director of Gioco Vita and coordinator of the Animateria programme, leads a professional workshop investigating shadow theatre as a fully-fledged artistic language. The sessions begin with technical and dramaturgical fundamentals, then invite participants to develop original sequences that prioritise sensitivity and poetic imagery. The programme emphasises practical experimentation, spatial composition and narrative invention, aiming to expand participants’ expressive vocabulary.

A family workshop offers a variety of games and discussions about screen usage, including a memory game comparing screen-free and screen-based situations, a “7 families” card game focused on planned obsolescence, a smartphone-themed writing session, and resources providing guidance for family screen management.
