Le Grand Chantier

Le Grand Chantier is the flagship workshop of the TMG that invites puppet enthusiasts to explore all stages of creating a performance, from fabrication to stagecraft, across five intensive weekends. Led by Olivier Carrel with expert contributors, the programme examines construction, manipulation, writing and directing while emphasizing practical skills and collective creation. Participants develop a piece through guided exercises, collaborative rehearsals and scenographic work. Open to participants aged 12 and up.

The discussion examines how adolescents and young adults access news, the role of social networks, which types of press remain relevant, and the impact of misinformation. Panelists will examine consumption patterns, editorial trust and media education strategies, offering insights into adapting journalism and teaching to reconnect younger audiences. Moderated by Marco Gregori.

This workshop explores the traditional process of assembling a herbarium specimen, inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s collections. Participants learn scientific techniques for pressing and mounting dried plants on old paper, practice botanical labelling and nomenclature, and select specimens to create a personal herbarium sheet. The session examines preservation methods, identification principles and the historical context of Rousseau’s approach, combining practical skills with scientific insight to produce a lasting botanical object.

This interactive memory challenge invites participants to test their memory while exploring practical ways to preserve biodiversity based on Geneva’s municipal strategy. Players match “before-and-after” images that illustrate individual and institutional actions, and each correct pair reveals concise information explaining the measure. The activity examines themes such as habitat restoration, species-friendly practices, urban greening and policy responses, helping participants understand the impact and rationale behind everyday and organisational conservation choices.

Since 2003, FIFDH has combined cinema with the promotion of human rights, presenting socially conscious films alongside debates and discussions that engage activists, journalists, artists, diplomats, and the public. Held across multiple venues in Geneva, including the UN, theaters, museums, and hospitals, the festival showcases feature films and documentaries that highlight human rights struggles worldwide, encouraging dialogue, reflection, and action. FIFDH has welcomed Nobel laureates, renowned filmmakers, and leading voices in activism, making it a unique platform where art and advocacy intersect.

A timely forum on unpaid labour and feminist strikes, preceded by a screening of The Day Iceland Stood Still. Drawing on the historic 1975 women’s strike in Iceland, speakers explore how domestic, emotional and care work—so central yet so invisible—can become a site of political struggle, and question how collective mobilisation can be reimagined beyond traditional labour frameworks.

The discussion is interpreted in English; the film is in Icelandic and English, with French and English subtitles.
