La Bâtie: Lia Rodrigues | Borda

In 2022, Encantado captivated audiences at La Bâtie with Lia Rodrigues’ dancers, turning rags and scraps into vibrant gardens. In the favela of Maré in Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigues established a dance school and art center to foster a creative space for emancipation. Her latest work, Borda, performed by ten artists from her school, explores the duality of “borda,” meaning both “border” and “embroidery.” The performers weave a fluid tapestry of otherness, crafting a poetic zone that intertwines resistance and reverie.
