Jazz sur la Plage is a vibrant open-air festival celebrating jazz in all its forms, from modern and electro to soul, latin, and progressive sounds. Frank Zappa’s opera “200 Motels” is showing in Switzerland for the first time. This dynamic musical-theatrical piece is brought to life by director Daniel Kramer and conductor Titus Engel, featuring an impressive and diverse cast, including Robin Adams, Brenda Rae, and legendary guitarist Mike Keneally. Known for his iconic rock career, Zappa presents an experimental and psychedelic work that blends opera, rock, and contemporary classical music. “200 Motels” offers a chaotic and extravagant journey across the United States, mirroring the wild lives of Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

After 13 years, the duo The Dreams — Armelle and Nafi — return to the stage with a brief reformation revisiting songs from Heimat, Noir Boy George, Crack und Ultra Eczema, Badaboum, Scorpion Violente and Le Chômage. Their sound blends cold‑wave textures with tropical grooves and reggae undertones, evoking connections to Suicide, Slits, Sonic Youth, Bob Marley and The Police. Their sole album Morbido (2011), reissued by Replica Records/La face cachée, frames a dark, luminous minimal pop.
On a triple bill by the Ballet Junior de Genève, three new works unfold: Yuval Pick’s Revoada, Émilie Leriche’s sad game and Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar’s Untitled Black. The company moves with collective intensity, shifting between taut physicality and lyrical surges. Pick teases singularity through vibrant movement, Leriche propels the dancers into precise, breathless lyricism, and Eyal/Behar impose a hypnotic, technically demanding finale. The evening is charged, communal and viscerally alive.
Created collectively by the company À l’Ouest with Guillaume Pidancet, this inventive staging reimagines Charles Perrault’s Bluebeard for families. Performed in a mobile truck‑theatre that becomes a ‘suitcase of dreams,’ the production blends playful storytelling, poetic imagery and close‑up interaction to transform a dark tale into a gentle exploration of curiosity and trust. The intimate ensemble features Pierre Boulben, Hugo Braillard and Loubna Raigneau.

Claudine (j’aime pas l’bonheur) is a re-creation by Marjolaine Minot that probes the ambivalence of happiness through intimate theatrical language. The piece blends restrained physicality and lyrical monologue to map memory, longing and domestic disquiet. Minimal scenic devices and attentive sound design carve spaces of emotion, while a small ensemble negotiates shifts between humour and melancholy. The production favours fragile gestures and precise rhythms to evoke an uneasy, poetic atmosphere.

Directed by Françoise Courvoisier, Les Glycines is a new creation by the TAC ensemble that examines the theme of madness through comic and reflective lenses. Performers including Nicole Aubert, Loulou Morisod, Catherine Vaucher, Zamila Yunus, Patrice von Büren, Claude Morex and Daniel Mouchet use improvised confidences to weave reality and fantasy.
