Greens of the Water – Aquatic Plants from Near and Far

The Martin Bodmer Foundation, in collaboration with the Conservatoire and Botanical Garden of Geneva and the Bains des Pâquis, presents “Verts d’eaux – Aquatic Plants from Near and Far.” This summer exhibition is dedicated to the diverse world of aquatic plants found in rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans. Combining botanical wonder, artistic interpretation, and scientific inquiry, the exhibition highlights the relationship between aquatic plants and Geneva’s landscape, as well as their portrayal in both literary and religious texts. Curated by Nicolas Ducimetière and Pierre Boillat, with artistic direction by Yoann Givry, visitors are invited to enjoy an enlightening stroll.

The exhibition organized by the Centre de la Photographie at the Maison de l’enfance et de l’adolescence (HUG), in collaboration with the Fondation Convergences, showcases the photographic project by Sabine Hess & Nicolas Polli, titled “One Bed, Two Blankets, Seventy-Six Rules”. This humorous and intimate work, which began at the Verzasca Fotofestival and further developed at the Biennale Images Vevey 2024, delves into couplehood through texts and artworks highlighting their shared challenges and growth.

ABSTRAKTIONEN / ABSTRAÇÕES brings together diverse approaches to abstraction across two generations and continents. From Traugott Spiess’s meditative gestures to Niura Bellavinha’s layered color fields, Herbert Sobral’s playful contrasts, Fernando De La Rocque’s dreamlike structures, and Antonio Bokel’s geometric compositions rooted in street art, the exhibition traces a century of abstract practices. A visual journey through spontaneity, memory, language, and public space.

Opening on Thursday July 10, from 18:00 to 21:00 on the occasion of the Nuit des Bains.

Wilde presents Your Thoughts Become Your Words, Your Words Become Your Reality, the first solo exhibition in the city by Márton Nemes, fresh from representing Hungary at the 60th Venice Biennale. Blending abstraction with techno aesthetics and meditative themes, Nemes creates immersive environments using enamel murals, LED-infused paintings, mirrored steel, and ceramics. His bold, multisensory works challenge the boundaries of painting and sculpture, inviting viewers into a vibrant, psychedelic space where perception and intention shape reality.

Opening on Thursday July 10, from 6 to 9pm on the occasion of the Nuit des Bains.

“Tuning in – The Acoustics of Emotion” is an exhibition that delves into the connections between sound, voice, heritage, and humanitarian action. Utilizing sound archives and collections from the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the exhibition explores which voices we preserve, their significance, and the role of music in humanitarian efforts. It features soundtracks, historical recordings, posters, photographs, prisoners’ objects, and artworks both historical and contemporary.
