Frank Zappa’s opera “200 Motels” is showing in Switzerland for the first time. This dynamic musical-theatrical piece is brought to life by director Daniel Kramer and conductor Titus Engel, featuring an impressive and diverse cast, including Robin Adams, Brenda Rae, and legendary guitarist Mike Keneally. Known for his iconic rock career, Zappa presents an experimental and psychedelic work that blends opera, rock, and contemporary classical music. “200 Motels” offers a chaotic and extravagant journey across the United States, mirroring the wild lives of Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

Bernard Lavilliers, an iconic figure in French music, invites you to a Christmas concert with the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Raphaël Merlin. Lavilliers’ classic songs will be reimagined in symphonic versions, blending rock, salsa, and bossa nova. Joined by talented musicians, Lavilliers delivers a performance that resonates with audiences of all ages, characterized by its heartfelt and universal poetry. This marks the Swiss premiere, a true Christmas gift.

Back from the ashes like a mischievous phoenix, this stage adaptation of Hergé’s timeless comic hurls Bianca Castafiore’s shrill “Heavens, my jewels!” onto the boards and detonates a riotous, closed-door whodunnit inside the tranquil walls of Moulinsart: red herrings fly, misunderstandings snowball and Tintin’s entire gallery of eccentrics careen through a dazzling, hyper-faithful recreation of the album, where actors vanish into near-unrecognisable guises and the set itself crackles with playful theatrical sleight-of-hand—proof that some productions really do possess a magic, living soul of their own.

This concert pays tribute to Marcel and Catherine Cellier, pioneers in preserving Eastern European music and known for discovering artists like Gheorghe Zamfir and The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices. Their son Alexandre, along with Dimitar Gougov and Ion Miu, honors this legacy through a blend of traditional styles and original compositions. The event is organized by the Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie and AMR, with support from the City of Geneva and the South Cultural Fund.
