Faustus in Africa! by William Kentridge and Handspring Puppet Company reimagines Goethe’s Faust through the lens of colonial history. Mixing puppetry, animation, visual arts, and theatre, the piece transforms Faust into the figure of the Western colonizer, exposing greed, clichés, and violence while offering a sharp, imaginative reflection on Africa’s exploitation and its shared history with Europe.
