The Byron Quartet and Matteo Mela present “Souvenir d’Espagne,” a concert showcasing works inspired by Spanish music. The program includes Turina’s “Oración del torero” and “Serenata”, Boccherini’s renowned “Fandango”, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Quintet with its “Souvenir d’Espagne” movement. These pieces, infused with influences from Haydn, d’Indy, Franck, Debussy, Schubert, Ravel, Andalusian music, and flamenco, beautifully capture the spirit of the guitar.
Pop energy, raw intensity, a touch of animality, and playful shifts in force. With live music and dancers moving around the audience, the beat spreads—visceral and physical. La Tendresse du ventre de la baleine explores the tension between individuality and collectivity, between identity, intimate desires, and the need to belong.
