Bordermeetings: Between the Lines

Swiss artist Anna Grichting Solder presents a multidisciplinary investigation of borders as liminal, ecological and mnemonic zones.
Combining architectural drawings, models, palimpsest chess sets, videos, sound compositions, publications and archival material, the exhibition maps how social, cultural and ecological forces intersect across divided territories. Drawing on research in Berlin, Belfast, Nicosia, Korea and the Balkans, Grichting proposes borders as sites for healing, transboundary environmental initiatives and participatory design, and evokes how memory and imagination reconfigure contested landscapes.

Eric Eriston Winarto presents a body of small oil paintings that treat the Swiss landscape as memory and pictorial research. Executed largely in A4 format, these fragmentary paintings—hills veiled in smoke, metallic roads, nocturnal scenes with phantom headlights, bluish forests—oscillate between observation and abstraction. Drawing on the legacy of Turner and Hodler, Winarto probes perception, tension and balance, using controlled yet enigmatic brushwork to suggest storms, glaciers and mist. The project questions how intimate, poetic images emerge from fleeting atmospheric states.

23 January – 30 April

London-based artist Konstantina Krikzoni presents a body of paintings born from an intense solitary studio practice. Her work blurs painting and sculpture: textured, tactile canvases where brushwork and sculptural modelling interweave. Silent yet confrontational female figures occupy compositions in grey and yellow, evoking funerary motifs and the logic of memory and grief. ARMATURA functions as metaphor and method — an internal armature of endurance that shapes emotion into form through material exploration and sustained process.

12 March – 14 May

Gianni Motti is a Swiss conceptual artist known for blurring the boundaries between art, politics and everyday life. Often working through interventions, performances and symbolic gestures, he inserts himself into real-world situations—from institutions to public events—to question power, authorship and the role of the artist. His provocative and often humorous works invite audiences to reconsider what art can be and where it can happen.

The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent presents the first European solo exhibition of Guatemalan Maya Kaqchikel artist Angélica Serech (*1982). Pach’un Q’ijul (Temps entrelacés – Deep Time) intertwines ancestral weaving gestures with personal and collective memory, drawing on Serech’s history shaped by Guatemala’s civil war. Using self-built looms and natural materials like corn husks and branches, her works explore resilience, repair, and the deep ties between textile traditions and humanitarian action.

13 March – 9 May

Naturæ brings together works by Silvia Bächli, Erik Bulatov, Jean Crotti, Franz Gertsch, Fabrice Gygi, Alex Hanimann, Alain Huck, Claudio Moser, Leanne Picthall and Melissa Steckbauer. Through a diversity of practices and generations, this group exhibition explores different artistic approaches to the natural world and its representation.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Thursday 12 March, 18:00.

12 March – 7 May

Ernest Pignon-Ernest, born in 1942 in Nice, is considered one of the pioneers of street art. Through life-sized charcoal drawings pasted directly onto city walls, he creates powerful encounters between his human figures and the urban spaces they inhabit. Deeply engaged with social and political issues, his work reflects historical and contemporary struggles while maintaining a strong poetic and human presence.

Opening during the Nuit de Bains on Thursday 12 March at 18:00.
