La Bâtie: 1000&1 BPMOdyssée

1000&1 BPMOdyssée is a collaborative endeavor between la Bâtie Festival, Pavillon de l’ADC, the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre, and the company Arts Mouvementés/Yasmine Hugonnet. This choreographic work delves into the emotions and states of the dancing body through its rhythms. Nine dancers navigate the beats of this emotional entity, all set to an original score by Michael Nick.

FURTHER AFIELD

The Variations Musicales de Tannay is an intimate classical music festival held each summer in the scenic park of the Château de Tannay, in the canton of Vaud. Since its creation, the festival has welcomed internationally renowned artists alongside rising talents, offering high-quality concerts in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Performances take place under a large tent seating over 500 guests, creating an immersive musical experience. The program spans a wide range of repertoire—from Baroque to contemporary—and is especially known for its strong focus on chamber music and innovative programming.

28 August – 1 September

“Ici, rien ne va” brings together three characters on the cusp of leaving their home village in a theatrical musical journey. One character departs, another stays, and the third loves the one who is leaving. Through song, they share their feelings, fantasies, doubts, desires, and regrets. Yet, this musical, imbued with clumsiness and peculiarities, uncovers the artists’ vulnerabilities through their missteps.

28 & 29 August

Marlene Monteiro Freitas kicks off the Festival d’Avignon with NÔT, a dance piece inspired by One Thousand and One Nights that weaves together tales of love, war, and adventure. This performance presents a dramatic confrontation between life and death, captivity and freedom, vice and virtue, and features a human architecture reminiscent of Goya, where desires and realities clash.

The Syrham duo, featuring Michèle Lubicz, a duduk enthusiast trained in Armenia, and Soumaya Hallak, a Syrian operatic singer, invites audiences on a musical journey bridging East and West. Their performances blend Syriac and Arabic songs, inspired by the monk Jacques Mourad in Syria, combining voice and duduk to honor sacred music.

Imagine a captivating melody leading you along a flower-lined path, eventually drawing you into a dense forest. Outdoors, surrounded by lush greenery, the audience experiences music performed in solo, duo, or trio formats. Guided by this enchanting melody, attendees are then led into a hall where the orchestra performs Robert Schumann’s nine forest scenes, set in a magical forest atmosphere enhanced by luminous creations by Sophie Le Meillour.
