Société des Arts de Genève is a historic cultural institution founded in 1776 and based at the Palais de l’Athénée in Geneva. A true hub for knowledge and interdisciplinary exchange, it offers a year-round program including conferences, exhibitions, concerts, trips, and public events. Rooted in a long tradition of supporting arts, sciences, and applied knowledge, it now serves as a meeting point between heritage and contemporary creation, fostering the dissemination of ideas and the sharing of knowledge.
Using the bird as a creative compass, this drawn concert blends airy melodies and jazz improvisation. Michel’s pan flute weaves through Gabriel’s electronic textures while Tom sketches in time, his drawing unfolding live and becoming part of the show. The visual-musical encounter creates an immersive, contemplative atmosphere, prioritizing poetic moods, warm sonic textures and spontaneous interplay between sound and image. The performance favours slow listening and attentive observation.
Marie-Laure Salles, director of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), and Reto Crameri, illustrator and author, discuss Geneva’s role as a historical laboratory of international cooperation. The lecture examines the city’s civic and diplomatic traditions and explores how multilateralism can be reimagined to address political, social and environmental transformations. Speakers investigate institutional practices, narratives and creative perspectives that sustain cooperative frameworks and propose avenues for renewal.

Charles Pictet de Rochemont, a historical figure who promoted regional crafts, aimed to establish a wool industry in this area. This lecture explores the remarkable history of that ambitious project and examines the material transformation of wool across the production stages of the “Pictet shawls”. It discusses the technical and social dimensions of manufacture and reflects on parallels with contemporary initiatives to revalue wool and stimulate new local dynamics.

Marilou Bal probes the spectrum of girlhood to examine self-image, doubling, and mimicry. Drawing on the language of horror and revenge films, she appropriates feminine representations as a protective strategy. Through her paintings, Bal investigates power relations and recurring motifs such as the fetishized dog and romantic projections onto animal figures. For this solo presentation she develops a new axis focused on the teddy-bear archetype, a timeless comfort symbol that prompts reflection on self-construction and subtle forms of rebellion.

Led by Iranian musician Neda Joukar on târ and accompanied by a Persian vocal partner, Cordes tressées unites these sonorities with an Italian baroque trio — baroque guitar, lute and theorbo — played by Matteo Mela, Lorenzo Micheli and Massimo Lonardi, with soprano Renata Fusco. Rooted in oral transmission and a practice where composer and performer intertwine, the project foregrounds attentive listening, subtle sound work and delicate plucked gestures, weaving a living dialogue between Persian and early‑European traditions.
Created for an anniversary season, Le dessin infini brings comics legend Zep together with young illustrator Fabian Menor, winner of the 2025 Prix Töpffer. Rather than a drawn concert where images accompany music, the two artists perform “drawings in concert”: a live exchange in which graphic gesture and musical improvisation respond to each other on equal terms, engaging with a selection from an institutional collection that traces 250 years of history.
