Located in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town, Maison Tavel is a historic building that reflects the urban and social evolution of the city. As the oldest house in Geneva, it has been transformed into a museum dedicated to local history. Through its stone walls and various exhibitions, it narrates the daily life of Genevans across different eras, providing a unique glimpse into the architectural and cultural heritage of the region.
As it approaches its fortieth anniversary, Maison Tavel has revamped its spaces to include a floor for temporary events, a reimagined permanent exhibition, and a music-dedicated salon. The exhibition “Quel froid !” exlplores the depictions of winter, showcasing paintings from the 17th century to the present alongside historical and contemporary photographs.
Join us at the Maison Tavel to relive the Escalade, the historic event of 1602 when the troops of the Duke of Savoy attempted to invade Geneva.
