Espace_L is a contemporary art gallery in Geneva’s Quartier des Bains dedicated to contemporary visual art. It stages temporary exhibitions by international and Brazilian artists, hosts experimental projects, workshops, and talks, and serves as a flexible platform for artistic research, collaboration and cultural exchange within the city’s contemporary art network.
Surfaces brings together eight contemporary artists—Jörg Brockmann, Nicolas Delaroche, Teodelina Detry, Nacoca Ko, Mila Mayer, Maya Rochat, Julien Spiewak and Gabriel Wickbold—to examine the material and perceptual qualities of photographic surfaces. Works range from scratched negatives and sculpted prints to ceramic transfers and screen-based pieces. The exhibition foregrounds texture, tactility and the interplay of light and matter, considering how photographic supports shape memory, embodiment and the boundaries between analogue and digital practices.
