The AMR is a prominent jazz club located in the heart of Geneva’s vibrant Pâquis district. For the past half-century, this dynamic association has been dedicated to promoting jazz and improvised music, catering to a diverse and intergenerational audience. Each year, the AMR schedules an impressive roster of over 200 concerts, alongside the organization of two annual festivals, as well as many workshops and classes.
Formed in 2011 by Hiroshi Funato and Jean-Jacques Pedretti, Neko is a duo that communicates without a shared tongue, weaving free, emotional and joyful instrumental dialogues that can turn gently aggressive. Recover delivers raw, physical music—an underground summons to archaic forces, a wild exorcism that re-covers lost memory through the saturated magma of contemporary sound. This double bill features an expanded lineup across reed, brass, bass and drums and appears within the JazzContreBand programme.
Kashi, conceived by choreographer Gauri Priscilla Brülhart to mark twenty years of her career, is a music-and-dance creation rooted in the Banarasi kathak tradition. Inspired by the luminous city of Banaras/Varanasi and the cult of Shiva, the performance blends rhythmic virtuosity, improvisation, narrative gesture and devotional intensity. A company of musicians and dancers trained with masters of the Banaras lineage explores the interplay between tala, melody and footwork. Produced by Sangeet Swiss with support from the State of Fribourg and the Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie.
