Leos Carax returns to the restless material of Pierre ou les ambiguïtés in this long version, freely adapted from Herman Melville’s novel. Drawn from the same shoot as Pola X, the film unfolds in three episodes and opens up around forty extra minutes, reshaping its narrative flow and emotional rhythm. Restored in 2025 by Leos Carax, Arena Films and the Cinémathèque française at Eclair Classics, it reveals a daring, fragmented vision where desire, identity and literary obsession keep shifting form.
