Luis Marques – Deep Blue / Intermittences

Luis Marques presents DEEP BLUE and INTERMITTENCES, two series of drawing-based works that transform line into landscape, rhythm and breath. DEEP BLUE offers expansive fields of blue where delicate marks build textured, contemplative seascapes. INTERMITTENCES reworks reclaimed screen-print test papers, letting traces, stains and accidents enter a patient process of repeated lines. Using pens, markers and even sewing thread, Marques negotiates control and chance, producing intimate topographies that meditate on time, repetition, memory and material transformation.

Opening: 2 September, 18:00
Closing: 13 September, 18:00

Curated presentation gathers laureates of the International Competition for Artists from Minorities (2022–2025), bringing together around thirty artists such as Zahra Hassan Marwan, Babatunde “Tribe” Akande and Mehdi Rajabian who interrogate dominant narratives and resist erasure. Through painting, photography, sculpture, digital art, installations, performance and music, contributors blend testimony, memory and activism.
Four thematic axes—statelessness; intersectionality; memory in the present; belonging, place and loss—shape a multidisciplinary dialogue that foregrounds minority voices and asks how art can testify to, preserve and reclaim marginalized histories.

The Tender Buttons exhibition offers a multidisciplinary exploration centered on buttons, delving into their identity and historical significance. Featuring over three hundred ceramic and glass buttons, the exhibition interacts with the museum’s works to highlight their role in both formal experimentation and socio-cultural narratives. Curated by Claire FitzGerald, the exhibition is supported by the Swiss Fashion Museum and showcases never-before-seen pieces from several prestigious collections.
