Masson–Vallon Duo — ECM Jazz

Tenor saxophonist Nicolas Masson and pianist Colin Vallon share a rare musical complicity born of over twenty years of collaboration. Their duo — shaped by recordings on the ECM label — unfolds a lyrical, introspective soundscape where composition and improvisation dissolve. Sparse motifs breathe, silences enlarge, and an almost telepathic dialogue reveals nuanced phrasing and attentive listening. The performance offers intimate, resonant moments where melody emerges from the saxophone’s breath and the piano’s lingering resonance, concentrated in the intensity of the present.
