Conductor Raphaël Merlin leads a programme that juxtaposes Béla Bartók’s visceral Cantata Profana with Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42 and Violin Concerto, framed by Bartók’s Rhapsody No.1. Under Pierre Fouchenneret’s incandescent bow and the choral force of Ensemble Aedes, soloists Anne-Laure Hulin, Istvan Horvath and Attila Mokus give voice to themes of metamorphosis, longing and the wild. The performance favours dense, arborescent textures, luminous orchestral colors and an intimate dialogue between violin and choir, evoking forested landscapes and elemental renewal.
In early January 2022, two construction vehicles belonging to a Swiss multinational were set on fire at a gravel pit in the Geneva countryside. Over a year later, a young man — referred to as Jérémy — was arrested and suspected of involvement in the arson. Held in pre-trial detention, he was released after more than three months, following strong public support and mobilization.
