La Cour des Contes is a storytelling festival held each spring in Plan-les-Ouates (Geneva), celebrating oral narration as a vital force for social connection and cultural dialogue. Participants construct a wooden, solar-powered flashlight while gaining practical skills in electronics and maker techniques. The workshop teaches soldering, assembly of a simple electrical circuit, and integration of a photovoltaic cell with LEDs to produce efficient lighting. Attendees also learn finishing and customization using laser engraving to personalize their lamp. The session examines basic principles of solar energy and low-power design, fostering hands-on understanding of sustainable, small-scale lighting solutions.

Casilda Regueiro conjures stories from the mists of oral tradition like a Galician meiga. Trained in song, dance and theatre, she brings tales to life through voice, movement and presence, drawing young listeners into worlds where anything is possible. Hear wonderful narratives from Greek and Egyptian myth — Achilles and the Trojan War, Dionysos the twice‑born, Demeter and Persephone, the story of Isis and Osiris — and along the way encounter a pirate, a mermaid and maybe even a mummy.

Discover a lively weekend of storytelling, hands-on creativity and playful discovery across Geneva’s public libraries and partner institutions. Families will find musical readings, creative workshops, participatory animations, book-based games, treasure hunts, toy-making ateliers, guided visits, film screenings and a varied youth programme. Children can explore sounds, colours and movement, make things with their hands and spark their imagination through shared stories and playful activities designed to inspire curiosity and creativity.

27 – 29 March

Join us for a vibrant weekend envisioning a world where children have a say in decision-making. Over three days, delve into the concept of granting children the right to vote through interactive games, workshops, performances, and playful discussions. This is an opportunity to rethink our relationship with childhood and to hear young voices on their desire to participate. Expect intergenerational activities and shared meals throughout the event!
