The OSR showcases the works of Fanny Mendelssohn as part of the 2025-26 Chamber Music Series at the Geneva Conservatory of Music. Musicians Sidonie Bougamont, Claire Dassesse, Luca Casciato, and Léonard Frey-Maibach will perform her String Quartet in E-flat major, Piano Quartet in A-flat major, and Piano Trio in D minor, op. 11. Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn, as talented as her brother, composed despite the biases of her time. Her compositions reveal a vibrant personality and boldness, suggesting the remarkable potential she could have realized.
In early January 2022, two construction vehicles belonging to a Swiss multinational were set on fire at a gravel pit in the Geneva countryside. Over a year later, a young man — referred to as Jérémy — was arrested and suspected of involvement in the arson. Held in pre-trial detention, he was released after more than three months, following strong public support and mobilization.
