The Polomarco Gallery presents “Street Scripts,” its inaugural exhibition dedicated to urban art, featuring artists L’Atlas and Rafael Sliks. This visual dialogue delves into urban calligraphy transformed into sensory shapes and messages. L’Atlas, a Parisian trained in calligraphy in Morocco and Egypt, merges geometric abstraction with scriptural traditions to craft optical and enigmatic works. Rafael Sliks, hailing from São Paulo, blends graffiti and abstract style, inspired by urban chaos and nature, turning writing into a form of visual expression and escape.
The UNIGE exhibition offers an immersive journey into the heart of volcanoes, blending science with stories and myths. Captivated by their power and majesty, humans have always endeavored to understand and narrate the mysteries of volcanoes. The exhibition delves into how they work, the force of eruptions, eruption forecasting, and the sharing of knowledge. It invites visitors to touch, experiment, and listen to grasp the dual nature of volcanoes, balancing danger with their bountiful offerings.
The Martin Bodmer Foundation, in collaboration with the Conservatoire and Botanical Garden of Geneva and the Bains des Pâquis, presents “Verts d’eaux – Aquatic Plants from Near and Far.” This summer exhibition is dedicated to the diverse world of aquatic plants found in rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans. Combining botanical wonder, artistic interpretation, and scientific inquiry, the exhibition highlights the relationship between aquatic plants and Geneva’s landscape, as well as their portrayal in both literary and religious texts. Curated by Nicolas Ducimetière and Pierre Boillat, with artistic direction by Yoann Givry, visitors are invited to enjoy an enlightening stroll.
A fascinating off-site exhibition by the Martin Bodmer Foundation traces the evolving history of medicine through 15 striking plates from rare texts. “Tuning in – The Acoustics of Emotion” is an exhibition that delves into the connections between sound, voice, heritage, and humanitarian action. Utilizing sound archives and collections from the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the exhibition explores which voices we preserve, their significance, and the role of music in humanitarian efforts. It features soundtracks, historical recordings, posters, photographs, prisoners’ objects, and artworks both historical and contemporary.
Skopia’s “Summer exhibition” is a group show featuring pieces by: Silvia Bächli, Alexandre Bianchini, Erik Bulatov, Pierre André Ferrand, Franz Gertsch, Pierre Schwerzmann.
