Damien Jalet presents “Onbashira Diptych” at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, featuring his works “Skid” and “Thr(o)ugh.” Inspired by the Japanese Onbashira festival, these choreographies delve into themes of danger and bravery. “Skid” showcases a 34° inclined stage resembling a mountainside, embodying movements that oscillate between control and imbalance. Meanwhile, “Thr(o)ugh” features a rotating cylinder that represents a tree trunk, exploring themes of mortality and resilience in the aftermath of attacks. Both pieces emphasize the critical role of physical connections in overcoming peril.
