Writing for Theatre with Rémi De Vos

Alongside the CLEO production at Théâtre Am Stram Gramm, Rémi De Vos will lead a theater writing workshop at Maison Rousseau et Littérature. Over two days, participants will engage in practical exercises to explore why some writings are suited for the stage while others may present challenges. This friendly workshop offers a chance to benefit from De Vos’s expertise and delve into the process of writing for theater.

Explore how a set designer imagines a whole world for an opera. Work with scenographer Valeria Pacchiani to sketch scenes, choose colors and textures, and build a model of your dream set for Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri. Handle paper, cardboard and simple tools, test light and shadow, and listen to how music changes the mood. This hands-on workshop sparks curiosity, boosts creative thinking and lets you watch an idea become a tiny, moving stage.

Marthe Krummenacher, laureate of the Swiss Dance Prize 2017 and founder of Burning Feet, is a Geneva-based performer trained at NDT2. Adrián Cia is a tango dancer and musician with over twenty years of practice and research into tango history.

This practical session opens with a Borges–Piazzolla tango and brief references to lyrics and composition, then guides participants through improvised tango practice. It examines how improvisation cultivates concentration, body awareness, listening and spatial perception, and considers tango as a method for learning and personal development, revealing the latent knowledge of the body.

22 November – 24 May

Le Grand Chantier is the flagship workshop of the TMG that invites puppet enthusiasts to explore all stages of creating a performance, from fabrication to stagecraft, across five intensive weekends. Led by Olivier Carrel with expert contributors, the programme examines construction, manipulation, writing and directing while emphasizing practical skills and collective creation. Participants develop a piece through guided exercises, collaborative rehearsals and scenographic work. Open to participants aged 12 and up.

Presented by the Association genevoise des amis de l’opéra et du ballet, this lecture is part of a series examining the operas of the 2025–26 season of the Grand Théâtre de Genève. It investigates L’Italienne à Alger through its score, libretto and historical context, offering close musical and dramaturgical analysis. Attendees will gain insight into the work’s themes, structure and performance practice, and how it fits within the season’s programming.
