Understanding the Peasants’ War

Pierre Bühler, an expert on Luther’s thought, will be presenting a lecture on the execution of Thomas Müntzer, a leader of the 16th-century German peasant revolts. He delves into why Luther, despite initially understanding the peasants’ demands, ultimately chose to back the authorities and oppose this Biblically inspired movement. The talk offers a contemplation on the distinction between reform and revolution within the history of Protestantism.
