Skateboarding Competition

The annual skateboarding competition hosted by PloPark is open to everyone. Join in to showcase your skills, enjoy an afternoon with fellow skaters, and have a fun family outing. A barbecue and a DJ will keep the vibe lively. The event features two types of jam sessions: group line battles and a best trick contest across the entire skatepark. For the opening of the “Afrosonica – Soundscapes” exhibition at the MEG garden, Mother Dubber and Ras Mali will take the stage. Mother Dubber, based in Geneva, bridges African traditions and modern music in her sets. Ras Mali, an avid collector of African music since the 1990s, delivers energetic DJ performances ranging from coupé-décalé to afro-beat. Expect an evening filled with the vibrant sounds of the African continent.

14 – 18 May

The Dance Festival 2025 offers an extensive lineup of performances, dance parties, and workshops across Geneva. Following the official opening at Bains des Pâquis, the celebration continues at key spots like Halles de l’Île and Place des Volontaires. Participants will then join the Dance Village at Jonction and other nearby communes including Meyrin, Lancy, Carouge, Onex, and Vernier. Highlights include a Dance Market in Carouge, Tattes & Dances in Vernier, a rock’n’roll evening, and urban dance celebrations. A variety of beginner classes and indoor and outdoor performances invite everyone to dance and explore new styles.

The MEG invites you to explore the immersive exhibition “Afrosonica-Soundscapes,” celebrating the rich music traditions of Africa and its diaspora. Following the official speeches, guests can enjoy a reception and a set by the co-curators Madeleine Leclair and Mo Laudi, with the evening culminating in a DJ performance by Mother Dubber & Ras Mali. Both the exhibition and the café will stay open throughout the night.

Through historical and contemporary perspectives, the exhibition highlights the power of sound as a bridge between memory, identity, and transformation. Featuring a diverse collection of instruments, archival recordings, and contemporary installations, the exhibition invites visitors on a multisensory journey where music connects the past and present, the human and the spiritual.
