Maria, a young migrant from southern Italy, recalls her move to Frankfurt with Giacomo, whom she married against her parents’ wishes in search of a better life. To avoid breaking the code of silence from her home region, other migrants re-enact her story on camera, turning what began as a documentary portrait into a playful and ambiguous hybrid between reality and fiction. Through these staged recollections, filmmaker Gertrud Pinkus expands the narrative into a broader reflection on uprooting, integration, and the quiet resignation experienced by immigrant communities.
The screening is presented in collaboration with the Ciné-club Une autre histoire and will be introduced by filmmaker Rachel M’Bon.
