Not a lecture, not a class — but a guided, intimate journey.  Each month, Olivier Barrot leads a personal and engaging exploration into the life, work, and spirit of a French-language poet. The sessions invite true exchange and are based on accessible editions from Gallimard’s Poésie series.

Featured poets:

  • Oct 13 – Raymond Queneau (1903–1976): Known for Zazie in the Metro and Exercises in Style, but also a witty, erudite poet of city and countryside.
  • Nov 3 – François Villon (1431–1463): A legendary outlaw-poet whose melodic genius foreshadows Romanticism.
  • Dec 1 – Paul Verlaine (1844–1896): Master of lyrical enchantment — “It weeps in my heart as it rains on the town.”

Over the past two decades, two seemingly distant fields—positive psychology and biodiversity conservation—have both sought to understand human well-being. In her work, Lisa Garnier explores the intersection of these disciplines, showing through scientific research and statistical evidence how relationships with others and with nature foster serenity and happiness. In this talk, she will present her latest findings, drawing on her extensive experience as a biodiversity specialist, journalist, and contributor to major scientific and environmental projects.  The conference is organized by the Sustainability Initiative in partnership with the City of Geneva, the Hoffmann Centre for Global Sustainability, TESS, and the Student Environmental Committee.

Moderated by Joëlle Noailly, the event will be held in French and English.
