16 – 21 November

The FILMAR festival presents “El fin de las primeras veces” by Rafael Ruiz Espejo, a Mexican fiction film lasting 76 minutes. It follows 18-year-old Lalo as he leaves his village for Guadalajara, discovering urban life through parties, encounters, and new experiences, all while exploring his sexuality and sense of freedom. This film is a tribute to the courage of embracing one’s true self and will be screened at Cinémas du Grütli in collaboration with Geneva’s Equality-Diversity center. One screening will include a discussion with Dialogai.

18 – 30 November

The Festival Les Créatives, a multidisciplinary event in Geneva, highlights the artistic and intellectual works of women and gender minorities. The 21st edition features concerts, theater, exhibitions, and discussions on topics such as chosen families and friendships. Notable participants include Hélène Giannecchini, Sophie Lewis, and Chloé Delaume. The festival reaffirms its commitment to combatting gender-based violence, working with the Canton and City of Geneva on local awareness campaigns.

As part of the Festival Les Créatives, a panel discussion will take place at the Fondation Atelier Philippe Grosclaude, focusing on the recognition of women artists in art history. Moderated by Florence Grivel, the conversation will feature Sarah Burkhalter and Camille Morineau, who will discuss the importance of reassessing historical narratives and supporting contemporary female artists to prevent repeating past mistakes.
