Furious Thinking presents works by Bachelor students from HEAD Genève’s Chroma option, examining the origins of their emerging artistic practice. Blurred memories, endless archives, accumulated collections and the ceaseless image feed converge in a room-like installation of personal effects: mutant PEZ, bigfoot slippers, jewellery, dice, cakes, a bed and stacked plastic chairs, alongside politics, family, distant mountain chants and a few monsters. The exhibition functions as exercise, rehearsal and edition, probing how images wound, soothe and shape authorship beyond the canvas.

Opening : Friday, April 17, 18:00 – 21:00.
Closing : Friday, May 8, 16:00 – 18:00 pm, including a listening session with Henry Rausch. In French

MABE Gallery presents Forza Silenziosa, the second solo exhibition of Sofia Cacciapaglia, whose paintings evoke a quiet, fluid world where forms, bodies, and landscapes gently merge, expressing a soft yet powerful feminine presence rooted in emotion, connection, and subtle energy.

Her work emphasizes transformation, intimacy, and dreamlike atmospheres, where silence carries intensity. Using reclaimed cardboard from her Milan neighborhood, she connects to the ethos of Arte Povera—a movement theorized by Germano Celant and associated with artists like Michelangelo Pistoletto and Jannis Kounellis—by embracing ‘poor’ materials and their histories; however, she diverges through her distinctly figurative and painterly approach, transforming humble surfaces into poetic images that bridge material awareness with narrative, imagination, and contemporary femininity.

Carlos Schwabe’s retrospective traces the symbolism and pictorial imagination that defined his practice. Trained in Geneva, Schwabe is celebrated for evocative book illustrations and ambitious pictorial compositions that blend allegory, myth and musical ideas. The exhibition presents paintings, illustrations and preparatory drawings drawn from public and private Swiss and French collections, exploring technique, materiality and the spiritual and literary currents that shaped his visual language around the turn of the twentieth century.

7 -May – 11 June

French glass artist Damien François is known for a mastery of cold-working techniques. Largely self-taught, he began working with glass after a trip to Norway and refined his practice with Scandinavian master glassmakers and at the Danish Design School. His work interrogates the material’s limits through pared-back, graphic compositions and subtle pictorial gestures. The exhibition assembles recent blown and cut glass pieces that emphasise minimalism, surface, and the interplay of light and colour.

7 – 9 May

Art en Vieille-Ville’s 38th edition presents sixteen concurrent exhibitions that bridge generations, techniques and narrative voices. The programme highlights artists such as Sofia Cacciapaglia, Sylvie Lambert, Étienne Krähenbühl, Yvan Salomone and glass artist Damien François. Works range from glasswork and illustrated books to immersive installations and other contemporary practices. Thematically the shows probe memory, dreamscapes, and the poetic effects of light, revealing intimate dialogues between image, object and book while tracing intergenerational connections and varied material languages.

Joint exhibition openings: May 7

16 April – 8 May

Presenting works by Julien Fournival, Théa Giglio and Chaolin Li, this exhibition draws on acts of recovery, diasporic narratives and ambiguous forms. Through found materials, sculptural interventions and time-based compositions, the project probes disjointed temporalities where memory and disappearance coexist. The artists intertwine material histories and personal fragments to question how objects and gestures carry traces across loss and migration.
