At the Boundaries of the Possible – The Art of the Violin According to Locatelli.
The Temenos Ensemble and violinist Chouchane Siranossian invite you to a concert at the Temple de St-Gervais, showcasing the work of Pietro Locatelli. The program features Concertos from his Opus 1 and 3, highlighting Locatelli’s evolution from his early works to his mature pieces, characterized by striking virtuosity and deep expressiveness. The evening also includes a Trio that offers a more intimate soundscape and a flute concerto by Galuppi. This performance reveals Locatelli as both a poetic figure and a master of grand Baroque effects, guiding audiences from public grandeur to private introspection.
The Frank Martin Orchestra of Geneva invites you on a musical journey through the works of Frank Martin and Gustav Mahler. Martin’s “Le Cornette,” composed in 1942-1943 and set to a text by Rainer Maria Rilke, delves into themes of solitude, suffering, and the acceptance of the inevitable. This will be complemented by a new French rendition of the text by Alexandre Pateau, brought to life by actor Gilles Privat. The program also features Mahler’s Adagietto from his Fifth Symphony, a transcendent piece that feels as if time itself is momentarily suspended.
