A unique experience curated by Geneva-based artist Myriam Boucris and Alaska’s Ts’msyen artists Gavin Hudson and David R. Boxley invites children to explore the story of the Salmon People and our environmental responsibilities through dance and sound.

2 July & 11 October

Join an Amapiano dance workshop for adults and children aged 8 and up, set amidst the Afrosonica-Soundscapes exhibition. Led by Loubna, a dancer with a passion for Afro-urban styles, you’ll be introduced to this South African dance that blends deep house, jazz, and traditional rhythms. Dive into a free and nuanced exploration of movement. Reservations are required, and suitable attire is advised.

6 July & 16 November

A free introductory dance workshop invites adults and children from age 8 to immerse themselves in the fusion dance styles of Amapiano and Azonto within the Afrosonica-Soundscapes exhibition. Led by Loubna, an enthusiastic dancer specializing in Afro-urban styles, the workshop delves into the unique movements and rhythms of South African Amapiano and Ghanaian Azonto. Open to everyone without prior registration, the workshop emphasizes the exchange of ideas and the spiritual aspect of dance. Additional dance workshops are planned for the coming months.

Damien Kunik, the curator of Asian collections at MEG, is offering a thematic tour of the permanent exhibition. This tour will highlight current issues in ethnographic collections and showcase newly integrated objects. It will address the influence of Western imaginations and the revitalization of long-forgotten items, while encouraging reflection on the nature of collections and exhibition choices.

To mark the winter solstice, the MEG is offering a live sound creation on vinyl by Amandine Casadamont and Madeleine Leclair. This performance intertwines world musical traditions with experimental, concrete, and ambient music.
